Panattoni: Successful annual results create confidence for 2023

Panattoni looks back on a successful year and is optimistic about 2023

With a positive annual balance sheet, Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, is optimistic about the year ahead in 2023. This is supported by the continuing high demand for space, which continues to make investments in the asset class of logistics properties attractive. With its expertise and experience, Panattoni will continue to support the growth of customers and partners in 2023 with sustainable property development projects and comprehensive consideration of all stakeholders such as users and local communities. The property developer is currently active on 23 construction sites nationwide and driving innovation with the realisation of the Panattoni Campus concept at several German locations, and in the next year will be putting over 786,130 m2 of logistics space onto the market for lease.

Panattoni can look back on a successful 2022. This year, for example, the company celebrated the development of its 100th project overall since entering the market in 2014, and, for the first time, ranked first in the bulwiengesa rankings of leading project developers in the German market for industrial and logistics properties. With a completed logistics area of 1,999,072 m2 in the period from 2017 to 2022, the developer was far ahead of its competitors. In addition, 990,339 m² of space was made available for rent to industrial, logistics and commercial companies in 2022.

Panattoni is also confident about the new year, despite the ongoing political and economic challenges such as the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and price increases. The reason for this is the continuing high demand for space due to booming e-commerce as well as the increasing re-shoring and near-shoring strategies of a large number of companies nationwide. Added to this is the expansion of buffer warehouses, which companies and service providers are utilising in reaction to the latest geopolitical upheavals in order to guarantee production security. The logistics property market is thus proving to be stable and future-proof in 2022 and beyond, which means that investments in this asset class will remain attractive in 2023.

In the new year, Panattoni will continue to offer customers and partners expert support for stability and growth with a high level of specialist knowledge and experience. Despite adverse market conditions, the developer also further expanded its expert team of personnel in Germany in Q3 and Q4 of 2022. Special attention was paid to the implementation of numerous measures that are in line with ESG criteria, with more than 85% of the Panattoni projects realised throughout Germany already being built on brownfield sites. This means that in the majority of projects, polluted soils are decontaminated, old building materials are put into a recycling cycle and new construction is undertaken according to at least the Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Panattoni has also established its own Green Building concept and introduced “social days” at all German locations. The company has also decided to promote zero-emission mobility for all employees. In addition, the developer entered into several strategic partnerships to implement ecologically, socially and economically valuable goals. All measures create long-term added value for property users, communities and other local stakeholders.

“In 2022, we were able to celebrate several outstanding successes. In view of the importance of logistics properties for the economy and growth, as well as the continuously high demand for modern and sustainably developed logistics spaces, we are entering the new year with confidence. We want to offer our customers and partners our usual reliable support with a broad network of experts and a future-oriented strategy of proactive space development in attractive locations,” said Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni for Germany and Austria.

To this end, the developer is also pushing ahead with innovation at full speed and is realising projects based on the Panattoni Campus concept for the first time at several locations in Germany. Currently, Panattoni has a pipeline of 1,823,400 m2 of planned logistics space and is active on a total of 23 construction sites nationwide. In 2023, a total of 786,130 m2 of space will be directly available to customers for lease.

Panattoni’s international growth includes the establishment of further locations, including in Sweden, Italy and Austria. In addition, the company recently made its debut on the Asian market by opening branch offices in India.
