Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, and SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ celebrated the handover of the new central warehouse at the Oberkrämer industrial park in Vehlefanz, Brandenburg on December 14, 2022. Around 30 representatives from SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ, Panattoni and from the political and financial sectors attended the festive handover of the 26,200 m2 build-to-suit (BTS) property.
The future user, SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ, is a Berlin-based wholesale company for plumbing, heating, installation and tiling that is steeped in tradition, Along with SHK | PAULSEN and SHK | DETERING, it is part of SHK Deutschland. With the build-to-suit logistics center developed by Panattoni, the group of companies is establishing a new
central location which will serve Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The facility will store up to 30,000 articles from the SHK wholesale segment, and it will offer additional services, such as advising local tradespeople and setting up a collection service for commercial customers. SHK’s own products will be received, stored, assembled, packaged and shipped on site. Deliveries to tradespeople, construction sites and company-owned collection sites will be processed in cooperation with partner companies according to a special transport concept.
Stephan Lammers, Supply Chain Director at SHK Deutschland, explains: “By moving into the new central warehouse in Vehlefanz, we are paving the way for further growth. Throughout the development of this amazing site, we have been able to rely on the experience and technical expertise of our partner, Panattoni. We would like to thank them for that!”
Panattoni developed a total usable area of 26,200 m2 for SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ, with 22,300 m2 of storage space, 1,300 m2 of space for offices and communal areas and 2,600 m2 of mezzanine storage space. The traditional enterprise’s exterior premises offer 112 passenger vehicle and 19 truck parking spaces. On request of SHK Deutschland, Panattoni took the installation of an automated small parts warehouse into account in the development. The roof areas were also pre-fitted for the installation of a photovoltaic system and charging stations for electric passenger vehicles and trucks. The developer planted fields of wildflowers on the outdoor premises and set up beehives and nesting boxes. This made the new property eligible for certification according to the German Sustainable Building Council (DNBG) gold standard.
The new logistics center will be erected on a property measuring just under 57,000 m2 in
the immediate vicinity of the Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern delivery areas. Due to the excellent connection to Berlin’s beltway, installation technicians, tradespeople and customers who collect their orders themselves can quickly reach construction sites. Downtown Berlin is less than an hour’s drive and the surrounding areas and routes to Hamburg are only a short distance away.
“Due to its close proximity to the metropolis of Berlin and its conveniently accessible location on Berlin’s beltway, the Municipality of Oberkrämer offers excellent site conditions that are attractive to a wide range of companies. We are pleased to welcome SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ as another successful company on one of the last commercial plots at the industrial park in Vehlefanz”, comments Wolfgang Geppert, Bürgermeister of the Municipality of Oberkrämer on the occasion of the handover.
“In Vehlefanz, we had the opportunity to realize an exciting project in which the identification of the customer’s requirements and logistics processes were in the forefront from the outset. The result was a logistics center tailored to SHK | BERGMANN & FRANZ’s requirements that enables a long-standing company to continue growing in an attractive region,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni for Germany and Austria.
