- Logistics service provider to rent 40,000 m²
- Up to 120 new jobs
- Optimistic outlook regarding further new tenants after Jago insolvency
After the announcement that Jago AG has become insolvent, Panattoni Europe, the current manager of the logistics centre in the industrial estate “Industriepark Rurtal” near Hückelhoven is optimistic regarding the further occupation of the logistics facility. The Rhenus Group, a globally operating logistics services provider with annual sales of 4.8 billion euros and more than 28,000 employees, has rented a new building with an area of 40,000 m² in the Logistics Park. Rhenus will be moving into the building in the near future. In Hückelhoven, Rhenus is planning to open a location for their Contract Logistics division and offer a professional perspective for up to 120 new employees.
Panattoni developed the logistics centre for Jago in 2015 and 2016, and in the meantime has sold the centre to an institutional investor. The facility site of more than 120,000 m² was originally designed as a so-called multi-user facility and can be divided into smaller sections. Talks are already in progress between Panattoni and further potential tenants. Panattoni and the economic development agency of Hückelhoven are therefore confident that the logistics centre will continue its successful development and that the jobs will be preserved and more created.
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni, explains, “This modern logistics centre continues to be a successful project, both for the town and for the investor. The fact that we have been able to win a well-known, globally operating logistics service provider like Rhenus for the logistics centre in the Industriepark Rurtal also says a great deal about the quality of the location.”
Bernd Jansen, mayor of the town of Hückelhoven, commented on the situation, “Of course, the current turn of events took us by surprise. At the same time, we are delighted with the new tenant and the great interest in our region as a logistics location. We are therefore convinced that through our close and trustworthy co-operation with Panattoni this will be a logistics centre which is bustling with activity and provides jobs for many people.”
