Panattoni Europe has constructed a new logistics hall of 28.000 sqm on a site of 50.000 sqm as a speculative development in Erlensee, near Frankfurt am Main. From 01.08.2017 this new facility will be used by Dachser SE, the global logistics service provider which has its main office in Kempten.
The logistics hall has a clearance height of 12.20 m up to the lower edge of the tie beam. One third of the area has been designed for use as a cold store, and as Dachser has a foodstuffs trans-shipment centre nearby it can be used for various purposes in food logistics. The logistics hall will be completed by 01.05.2017. After further customer-specific features have been implemented, the entire facility will be fully used by Dachser from 01.08.2017.
This location was one of the first airfields in the nineteen-twenties and was also previously used as a US air base. Against the background of this interesting history, the development of part of this former airfield was therefore of great significance, which is why the process up to the moving-in date has taken almost two years.
The total investment in this project amounts to 25 million euros.Panattoni is aiming to win certification for the facility according to the DGNB guidelines as confirmation of the economical, ecological and functional quality of the building. [DGNB: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen – DGNB e.V., (German Sustainable Building Council)].
Thomas Hörmann, Head of Construction & Real Estate at Dachser has this to say about the renewed collaboration with Panattoni: “Dachser also has a great deal of experience in the development of logistics real estate. Therefore, the standards we expect from an external partner are correspondingly high. We have now implemented three projects with Panattoni in Germany. We found the co-operation highly professional.”
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, sees the full leasing of the new facility by DACHSER as a great success. “The leasing of the entire logistics park Frankfurt Ost to Dachser is confirms our strategy. Speculative planning enables us to satisfy the demand for logistics real estate very quickly, even in hotspots like Frankfurt.”
