From a Lego Model to a Logistics Warehouse—24 Kids Discover the World of Project Development

A total of 24 children at our locations in Hamburg and Mannheim suddenly found themselves becoming project developers. Instead of just watching, they were able to get involved and use LEGO to plan and build their own logistics warehouse—from the initial design to the finished model. The activity was not only about creativity but also about gaining a basic understanding of the complex processes behind modern project development for industrial, commercial, and logistics real estate.

Along the way, we conveyed what it actually takes to successfully implement projects: the interplay of many different perspectives, a clear vision, and effective teamwork. These are values that are crucial not only in real estate development but in nearly every area of life.

A particular highlight was the transition from the model world to real-world practice, because project development doesn’t just happen at a desk. Equipped with hard hats and safety vests, the children visited actual construction sites and experienced firsthand how their ideas are brought to life on a large scale. At our City Park Ahrensburg and Panattoni Park Mainz Süd projects in Erbes-Büdesheim, they gained exciting insights into construction processes, workflows, and modern technology—and were even allowed to try their hand at it themselves. Their eyes lit up as they stood on the construction sites. These moments spark curiosity and may even lay the foundation for future career aspirations.

Panattoni Kids Day shows how important it is to spark an interest in our industry at an early age and give young people a glimpse into real-world work environments. The children’s many thoughtful questions, curiosity, and enthusiasm have once again highlighted the potential of the next generation. And who knows—maybe we’ve already met the project developers of tomorrow on this day?
