- The new logistics centre, developed by Panattoni Europe, fully leased by Rhenus
- Multi-user centre will expand the company’s location network for warehousing solutions
The Rhenus Group, a globally operating logistics services provider, has now signed a lease contract for the entire 120,000 m2 of a new logistics facility developed by Panattoni Europe in the industrial estate “Industriepark Rurtal” near Hückelhoven. Rhenus will open a location for customers in the industry and commerce sectors, thus expanding their existing network of multi-user facilities for warehousing solutions.
In June of this year, Rhenus already decided to lease 40,000 m² in the Industriepark Rurtal. Now, the company has leased an additional area of 80,000 m², which means that the new building with its total area of 120,000 m2 is now fully leased. Thomas Brand, member of the board of management of Rhenus Warehousing Solutions, says it is especially the excellent location which motivated the company to lease this building. “The geographic location is ideal for the expansion of our network in North Rhine-Wesphalia and it has the additional advantage of being in the catchment area of Mönchengladbach and close to the border with the Netherlands. Here we definitely see the potential for recruiting the staff we need. The growth in our customer business gave us a strong argument in favour of leasing the entire building.” Udo Brüggemann of Projecta Consult acted as consultant for Rhenus in the leasing negotiations.
Panattoni designed and developed the logistics centre with a total area of more than 120,000 m² as a so-called multi-user facility. Fred-Markus Bohne, managing partner of Panattoni, sees the full leasing to Rhenus as confirmation of this strategy. “This modern logistics centre is a successful project, both for the community and for the investor. Full occupancy of the centre by a well-known, globally operating logistics service provider like Rhenus says a great deal about the quality of the location and the building itself.”
Bernd Jansen, mayor of the town of Hückelhoven, commented on the successful leasing to Rhenus, “We are delighted with the strong interest in our region as a logistics location. This is demonstrated by the quick leasing of this facility to the Rhenus Group. The presence of Rhenus here will be a boost to the logistics centre and create many new jobs.”
