Panattoni hands over logistics centre in Alfdorf to ZF

• Approx. 13,700 m2 of logistics space developed with connection to existing buildings
• Construction time of about nine months
• Total investment of 14 million euros

On 12th July 2018 the logistics centre in Alfdorf near Stuttgart, developed by Panattoni, was officially handed over and officially opened. The ceremony was attended by many representatives of the town of Alfdorf, the regional authorities and the companies involved in the building of the centre.

On a site of 27,307 square metres Panattoni has built a logistics centre with approximately 13,700 m2 of warehousing and 700 m2 of office and recreational space for the automotive supplier ZF. The ZF subsidiary TRW Automotive GmbH manufactures and warehouses production material and components for passenger protection systems for the automobile industry in this location. The total investment cost for this project amounted to 14 million euros. The on-site logistics handling will be carried out for ZF by Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG.

Built by Panattoni specifically to the requirements of the user, the logistics centre complies with the KFW 70 standard. The new construction was connected to already existing buildings which ZF will continue to use for logistics purposes. Michael Ruster, ZF plant manager in Alfdorf, explained the importance of this project. “For us it was very important to stay in this location. The additional warehousing and office space will have a synergetic effect enabling our business in Alfdorf to grow further. We are delighted that this complex project has been reliably implemented on time under the supervision of Panattoni Europe.”

The mayor of Alfdorf, Michael Segan, commented, “It was important for the community to enable ZF to expand here and thus keep the company in Alfdorf. We also placed special emphasis on integrating the neighbouring area into the planning and implementation process. We think we can be very satisfied with the result.”

This was also emphasised by Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe. “From our point of view, the cooperation between all key participants in this expansion project was perfect. I would like to express my thanks to everyone! The development of logistics and commercial space is becoming increasingly challenging due to the lack of suitable sites, protracted approval procedures and insufficient building capacity. This project shows that constructive cooperation achieves the desired outcome!”

The development of the project by Panattoni was brokered by Colliers International in Stuttgart.
