Logistics real estate developer and investor Panattoni Europe is celebrating together with Jago AG and the building contractor Goldbeck the topping-out ceremony for the first construction phase of the e-commerce company's new logistics facility. In the inter-municipal industrial estate "Industriepark Rurtal Hückelhoven", one of the largest new logistics centres in Germany is currently under construction on a site of 200,000 square metres. The logistics complex, with a total useful area of 120,000 square metres, is being developed in four construction phases.
The first phase of the building work will create 40,000 square metres of warehousing and logistics space and 1,450 square metres for office and social areas. This phase is scheduled for handover to Jago in March 2016. The other building phases will follow consecutively and the entire project is due to be completed in August 2017. At the topping-out ceremony, Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, commented, "From the co-ordination with the customer to the negotiations with the town and co-operation with the building company, development of this facility has run smoothly and according to plan. The centre will offer optimal conditions for effective handling of e-commerce logistics and at the same time ensures Jago the greatest possible flexibility for any future changes in logistics processes."
With the new logistics centre, Jago AG wants to expand its international mail order business further. The company sells articles in the segments home & garden, do-it-yourself, sports and leisure, as well as pet supplies and toys. The products are mainly produced in Asia and transported by container ships. "We are looking forward to taking over the first building phase in a few months' time. The building and the outside area fulfil all our expectations of a modern logistics facility. With innovative technology and software, we will surpass the requirements for dealing with future challenges in e-commerce," explains the CEO and founder of Jago, Goran Jakovac. With regard to the location in Hückelhoven he continues, "With the connection to the ARA ports and proximity to the container port in Born, Netherlands, this location provides ideal conditions for fast distribution. For our business, this means a significant reduction in transport costs, and for our customers even shorter delivery times."
The Hückelhoven region benefits from Jago AG's new logistics centre in that the facility will provide and secure about 800 jobs. Bernd Jansen, mayor of the town of Hückelhoven, comments, "The precision and speed with which Jago AG's new logistics centre is being built here in Hückelhoven is amazing. In this context I would like to thank Jago, Panattoni Europe and Goldbeck, not only for the decision to settle the business here, but also for the excellent co-operation with the town council."
