Panattoni Europe, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, has secured a prime plot of land – measuring around 114,510 m2 and located in AirportPark Leipzig-Halle. Here, the project developer will be building a logistics centre bearing the name Panattoni Park Leipzig Airport by the start of 2021 without pre-letting. The centre will have a total of 51,000 m2 of hall space, roughly 2,000 m2 of office space and about 3,400 m2 of mezzanine space.
The plot is right next to the Airport Leipzig/Halle and has direct access to the A9, A14 and A38 motorways and the B6 federal road. Panattoni Europe’s logistics centre in AirportPark Leipzig-Halle will be constructed according to the gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen – DGNB). The investment costs amount to roughly 40 million euros. The sale of the logistics centre will be done through Colliers International Leipzig.
The seller of the land, the Danish company Airport Development AG, is developing the second construction phase of the AirportPark Leipzig-Halle together with Panattoni Europe. With the exception of a plot of 45,000 m2, the overall 370,000 m2 of land space is now sold.
“The Airport Leipzig/Halle is the second-largest freight airport in Germany and five-largest air cargo transshipment point in Europe, it serves as the base for the DHL Aviation cargo airlines and it is currently enjoying exponential rates of growth. The airport is considered to be at the heart of global activities for linking logistics concepts. The immediate proximity to production sites of the automobile industry (BMW, Porsche, Audi, etc.) is yet more proof of how attractive the location is. And the excellent transport links to motorways, federal roads and the ultra-modern railway freight facilities just rounds it all off,” says Dieter Vornhagen, Chairman of Airport Development AG.
The unique, forward-looking development at the Airport Leipzig/Halle is another significant milestone for Panattoni Europe in its strategy to build logistics parks in valuable, prominent locations and to provide a home for logistics and commercial enterprises.
