- Over 11,000m² of logistics space to be created
- Existing premises in Rottenburg-Ergenzingen to be extended
- Completion scheduled for March 2020
Panattoni Europe, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics premises in Europe, is once again working to construct facilities for the online retailer and alpine sports specialist Bergfreunde. The project developer will extend the existing premises with an additional 11,331m² of logistics space. This will include 9,927m² of storage space and 1,404m² of office space and social areas. Located at Peter-Schaufler-Strasse 16 in Rottenburg-Ergenzingen, the facility is well situated and enjoys a direct connection to the A81 autobahn.
Panattoni Europe erected a logistics centre for the online retailer on the site back in 2016. In light of the alpine sport outfitter’s strong order situation, it has become necessary to expand the facility. The rapid implementation of the first construction phase of 12,613m² was decisive in Panattoni Europe receiving the new order. “The first building section erected by Panattoni Europe in Ergenzingen enabled us to further expand our service level. At the same time, we created the conditions for future expansions, which we are now working to realise with Panattoni,” explained Ronny Höhn, Managing Director of Bergfreunde.
The positive experience that Bergfreunde enjoyed with Panattoni Europe in developing the first logistics space was an important factor in the decision to expand the facility.
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, voiced his satisfaction at the new development: “We’re well aware of Bergfreunde’s prominent position in terms of online sales and we’re delighted to be able to accompany them as they grow the company. It’s good to know that our customers return to draw on our experience and expertise.”
The new logistics hall will house incoming goods and returns handling operations. The planned expansion will comply with the sustainable building guidelines according to the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) Gold Standard. Construction will start on 22 July 2019, with completion scheduled for March 2020.
