In October 2017, project developer Panattoni Europe started construction of a new logistics facility for the BLG LOGISTICS GROUP in Falkensee near Berlin. Completion of the building is scheduled for May 2018. The new logistics centre will serve mainly to supply the production lines of the Siemens gas turbine factory in Berlin-Moabit and its plant in Berlin Siemensstadt. In the direct vicinity of the new building, BLG has already been providing production supply services for various well-known industry customers since 2014.
Panattoni, a developer of industrial and logistics real estate, is planning a highly complex facility with 22,000 m² of logistics space, 1,300 m2 of office and recreational space and an outside storage area of 1,000 m².Panattoni is aiming to win the DGNB gold certification for the building. Falkensee offers many advantages as a logistics location. It has a direct connection to the motorway junction Berlin-Spandau and is close to the Siemensstadt in Berlin where several of BLG’s customers are located. Manfred Jenschke, logistics real estate consultant at Logivest GmbH, assisted with the development project in an advisory capacity.
Christian Dieckhöfer, managing director of BLG Industrielogistik GmbH & Co. KG, comments, “The proximity of our location in Falkensee to the Siemensstadt has proved to be of great advantage. We very much value the potential of this location and are delighted to have the opportunity to expand it in cooperation with Panattoni Europe.”
Fred-Markus Bohne, managing partner of Panattoni Europe explains, “After implementing projects for BLG in Bremen and Düsseldorf, we have now been commissioned to develop this new facility in Berlin Falkensee. We consider this to be an important indication of the quality of the Panattoni team’s performance.”
