Freiburg Süd Panattoni Park: Festive handover to HORNBACH

Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, and HORNBACH Baumarkt AG celebrated the handover of the new Freiburg Süd Panattoni Park on 24 February 2023. The Mayor of the City of Neuenburg and representatives from HORNBACH, Panattoni and other parties involved in the project attended the celebration in Neuenburg am Rhein in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

HORNBACH Baumarkt AG is incorporated in Bornheim bei Landau in the Palatinate region, is a family-owned company and is one of the largest operators of hardware and garden supply stores in Europe. Now, around 13,900 m² of total usable space is available to the well-known hardware store company in Neuenburg am Rhein. It consists of approx. 12,100 m² of hall space, 1,000 m² of office and social spaces and 800 m² of mezzanine space. The exterior premises of the Freiburg Süd Panattoni Park offer space for 46 passenger vehicles and 3 lorries. HORNBACH plans to use the new site as a fulfilment and regional warehouse in the future.

“With the new site in Neuenburg am Rhein, we have successfully and optimally expanded our logistics network.  We look forward to officially starting operations at the site on 13 March 2023 with the delivery of the first goods for the fulfilment warehouse,” explains Marc Heider, Director of the Neuenburg Logistics Centre at HORNBACH Baumarkt AG.

Panattoni developed the property on the approximately 23,800 m² lot, a former hazardous substances warehouse in Neuenburg’s industrial district. Right on the French border near the trilateral border between Germany, France and Switzerland, the Freiburg Süd Panattoni Park offers an excellent connection to the A5 federal motorway and the B378 state motorway.

As part of the project development, Panattoni not only conducted comprehensive dismantling measures, it also implemented numerous sustainability measures. In addition to laying WGK III foil (water hazard classification) and preparatory measures for installing a photovoltaics system, modern VRF heat pump technology was installed to heat and cool the offices. This made the new property eligible for certification according to the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) gold standard.
