- Second construction phase was completed by Panattoni Europe in Spring 2017
- Amazon to move into warehouse with 10,500 sqm in August 2017
- Talks in progress for two further logistics halls
Amazon Deutschland is moving into the second construction section of a Park, which was developed by Panattoni Europe at Düsseldorf Hafen, where from August 2017 the company will occupy a logistic warehouse with an area of 10,500 sqm. Panattoni Europe, a leading developer of industrial and logistics real estate, completed the second phase of this building project in Spring 2017. It comprises a total of 32,000 sqm of modern logistics space. Talks are currently in progress with parties interested in two further newly built units, each with 10,500 sqm plus office and recreational areas.
Besides its proximity to the container port, this facility in the port of Düsseldorf offers a location with excellent connections for warehousing and logistics as well as all the pre-requisites for city-centre logistics and last-mile delivery. The logistics service provider BLG moved into the first construction section in 2016. This brownfield project was developed on a site of approx. 120,000 sqm.
Panattoni has already developed 665,000 m² for Amazon throughout Europe. The leasing of this warehouse is the first joint project in Germany. Melanie Landrieu, Real Estate Transaction Manager at Amazon, explains, “We have already had good experience with Panattoni in the USA and Europe and were soon convinced of the quality of the development at Düsseldorf Hafen. The location close to the city centre offers ideal conditions for Amazon, as last-mile logistics are now gaining more and more importance in Germany.”
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, draws a positive balance for the complex brownfield project. “The development of this site close to the city centre to create urgently needed logistics space with excellent traffic connections and thus ensure a suitable use of the area was the result of very constructive cooperation between all parties. Of course, we are delighted that the advantages of this logistics park enable us to extend our cooperation with Amazon into Germany.”
Since entering the European market in 2005, Panattoni Europe has developed 4.7 million square metres of new space. After completion of the Park at Düsseldorf Hafen the project developer will be responsible for the property management and leasing of the facility. During the lease negotiations with the e-commerce company, Amazon was represented by the commercial real estate agents CBRE. Realogis and Projecta Consult, Frankfurt, have an exclusive agency agreement to market the second construction section of the logistics centre developed by Panattoni Europe
