• Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co. KG to be long-term tenant for production and logistics space
• 10,000 m2 still available for lease in the speculative development
• Handover planned for April 2019
Panattoni Europe, the leading project developer of industrial and logistics real estate in Europe, has already let half of the available space in the Logistics Park Durmersheim. Construction of the industrial and logistics park on a site of approximately 40,000 square metres south of Karlsruhe was commenced in the first quarter of 2018 without advance letting.
The tenant of the first construction phase is Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co. KG, a worldwide leading company in the research, development and production of herbal medicines. Schwabe has signed a 10-year lease, brokered by Colliers International Deutschland, for 10,000 square metres of production and warehousing space, 500 square metres of office and recreational space as well as 24 parking spaces.
Besides the high requirements regarding safety and hygiene for the production-supplying logistics of the Schwabe Group, the hall will also be equipped as a hazardous goods store. The installations also include a continuous cooling system. The total investment in the first phase of the Panattoni Park amounts to approx. 12.5 million euros, about 2.5 million euros of which were necessary for user-specific equipment of the building.
Arno Klemm, manager for engineering, construction and logistics at the Schwabe Group, commented, “As manufacturers of medical products we have very high standards which also apply to the logistics space used to supply materials for our production. I am sure that together with Panattoni Europe we will create a building that fulfils our requirements.”
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, is very pleased with the long-term lease by the Schwabe Group. “With the Schwabe Group we have won a leading company in the pharmaceutical industry as tenant for the logistics park Karlsruhe Süd. The Group’s individual requirements for this building make this a special project for all involved.”
