TFS International is launching a plant for recycling clothes hangers in Panattoni Park Cheb

The industrial developer Panattoni confirmed its orientation towards the circular economy. Its new 7,800 sqm hall in Cheb will be used by the German company TFS International for sorting and recycling ready-made clothes hangers. While usable hangers will be repacked and returned to the retail network, the rest will go through a shredder to be recycled. The building is designed in accordance with the most stringent requirements for sustainable development at Excellent level according to the latest certification BREEAM 2016 New Construction.

“We keep up with the times, so in the new hall we want to test processes that meet the parameters of the Industry 4.0 concept. Automation and robotics of operation will help us significantly increase the efficiency of hanger sorting. Our goal is to use machines to assess whether a hanger can be returned directly to shops or recycled,” says Bernd Gerrit Bode, Secretary of TFS International.

“As the Czech leader in revitalization of brownfields into industrial zones, we focus, among other things, on recycling construction waste in construction. And now we have constructed a building that is based on recycling, namely circular economy in practice, in combination with the principles of Industry 4.0! The arrival of another German company in Cheb confirms the attractiveness of the Karlovy Vary Region. At the same time, we completed a hall for the German e-commerce giant Real Digital in the second zone in Cheb,” says Pavel Sovička, Panattoni’s Managing Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

TFS was established in Nordhorn, Lower Saxony, in 1990, less than a month after German reunification. In 1995 it became a family business as most of the shares were taken over by brothers Bernd Gerrit and Hermann Bode. Thanks to their desire for ecology and innovation, their company has gained worldwide significance by laying the foundations of the returnable hanger system as we know it today. The company is also one of the few to break down the stereotypical view of industrial park employees, as over half of its employees are women.

Panattoni has made Cheb one of the most important industrial centres of Central Europe in
4 years. Companies such as Tchibo, DHL and BWI have their operations at Panattoni Park Cheb. In addition, the first hall for Real Digital is being constructed in the new Panattoni Park Cheb South industrial zone.
