The Ostrava City Council has approved the plan to build Panattoni Park Ostrava Airport near Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport. The project aims to attract both leading domestic and global companies. It promises investments totalling around 4 billion and up to 2,000 new jobs for the whole region. Panattoni, as the developer, will use the large existing industrial zone with high-quality transport infrastructure. The top industrial premises with an area of 115,000 sq m will have minimal environmental impact. Construction should begin during 2022.
“I see the first Panattoni project in Ostrava as a great responsibility. The local economy has suffered many blows, with the structural ones followed by the Covid blow this year. I believe that, in addition to the proximity of an international airport, future users will appreciate the planned connection to the high-capacity railway siding on the premises, and that Panattoni Park Ostrava Airport will bring the region another necessary impetus. Last but not least, the construction and equipment of the buildings are an opportunity for a number of subcontractors from the Ostrava region,” said Pavel Sovička, Panattoni’s Managing Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Panattoni Park Ostrava Airport will stand out with its exceptionally high-quality and diverse transport infrastructure. It will take advantage of the synergies of the international airport, the D1, D56 and I/58 roads and, prospectively, also railway transport. Thanks to the planned container railway terminal, a “multimodal complex” will be created in the location to offer unique logistics capacities and possibilities.
In line with the “Go Earthwise with Panattoni” long-term strategy, the project will also create a place friendly to both the environment and people. The park will be designed to ensure that its operation minimizes the impact on the environment, including the carbon footprint, and that it benefits the local community. It is a unique concept that combines an environment that can be used by people with a state-of-the-art industrial zone.
