"Today is a very special day for Amazon. We are opening our first Amazon fulfillment center in the Czech Republic and will be creating 2000 permanent and 3,000 seasonal jobs over the next three years. These are excellent jobs with competitive wages and a number of benefits including supplementary pension savings plan, life and disability insurance, free of charge transport to work and much more," said Steven Harman, Director Operations, Amazon Europe and added: "We appreciate the support of the state and local leaders who have helped us to make our sites a reality. The official Opening Ceremony took place on 8 September 2015 in Dobrovíz. The event was attended by Ms. Jaroslava Jermanová, 1st Vice-Chairwoman, Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament and Mr. Jan Mládek, Minister of Industry and Trade.
"I am pleased that Amazon, an important global company with a tradition going back more than 20 years, has successfully launched their operations in the Czech. With the creation of thousands of long-term and seasonal jobs, this project will positively influence employment in the Central Bohemia region as well as in the surrounding regions. Particularly people from the Ústí region will appreciate these jobs since the economic situation there is worse than in other Czech regions," said Jan Mládek, Minister of Industry and Trade.
"This project is important not only for Dobrovíz, but for the whole Central Bohemia region. Amazon showed an open and transparent approach thanks to which we were able to establish an effective communication and great cooperation. "We are honored to be the developer of the biggest and the most important logistics building built in the Czech Republic since 1989. All works went according to schedule and we were able to finish the building in only 12 months, which I'm very pleased with. The construction of necessary infrastructure in surrounding municipalities is also ongoing. The Dobrovíz ring road will be finished on schedule, by
the end of 2015," said Pavel Sovička, managing director of Panattoni Europe for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
