For the first time in Panattoni's 15 years in the Czech Republic, one project has won 5 annual industry awards! This project is the robotic fulfillment center we completed for Amazon this year in Panattoni Park Kojetín.
Amazon's robotic distribution centre has been recognised by a number of real estate industry experts and academics - and has won five awards, such as prestigious Estate Awards, CIJ Awards and Best of Realty.
The centre in Kojetín represents a unique logistics project in the first fully multi-storey industrial building in the Czech Republic. It is unique not only in its size, but above all in the substantial savings in built-up area it offers. While the total area of the hall exceeds 187,000 sqm, the floor plan occupies less than a third, i.e. only 51,000 sqm. The height of the building exceeds 27 metres where the stair shafts lead.
The scope of the project is unique in the Czech Republic in its use of renewable energy sources through the energy of the surrounding environment. In order to make the operation environmentally friendly, modern photovoltaic panels with an output of 4 MW were installed on the entire roof area. This exceeds conventional domestic installations by three orders of magnitude, by way of comparison. The photovoltaics on the roof of the building will cover up to 68.2% of the energy consumed on the site. The entire distribution centre will be heated by heat pumps instead of gas.
The actual construction of the four-storey building was challenging in many ways. The new distribution hall was built on the site of the former settling tanks of the sugar factory. The entire brownfield had to be remediated and the environmental burdens removed before construction could begin. The proximity of the site to the railway meant that 6,800 panels could be transported to the site by train directly from the concrete factory, reducing embedded carbon. The weight of the panels exceeded 80,000 tonnes. The trains replaced the 2,267 trucks that would have been used to transport the panels.
The emphasis on ecology and sustainability is also evident in other aspects. For example, there are beetle and lizard farms, insect hotels and bee hives on the site. The planting of 500 trees - 300 of them on site, the rest in Kojetin - was also above standard. A flowery meadow has been sown on the property to provide food for bees. There are also more than 30 charging stations available for electric vehicles.
The logistics hall meets strict environmental requirements and aspires to an exceptionally high rating in the BREEAM New Construction "Excellent" environmental certification.
