CEVA, the logistics operator, occupies over 31,000 sqm at this location. Based on Signify’s lighting solutions, a space was created that not only meets the highest energy efficiency standards but also delivers measurable financial savings.
Digital lighting technologies
The innovative lighting solutions used in the warehouse and office are based on energy-efficient and high-performance LED technology. LED fixtures also have a longer lifespan, minimizing maintenance and replacement costs.
Philips Dynalite system
Philips Dynalite is an advanced lighting control system that uses sensors to automatically adjust lighting levels depending on the amount of available daylight and the presence of people in the room. Thanks to motion detection, lighting is only activated where needed, leading to significant energy savings. Additionally, the system collects data on energy usage and presents it in intuitive charts, enabling easy analysis, ongoing optimization of energy consumption, and reduced maintenance costs.
Benefits:
Reduced energy consumption – ultra-efficient Philips LED lighting fixtures, combined with the Philips Dynalite control system, reduce electricity use at the Piła facility by 425 MWh annually compared to the current LED market standard without such solutions. This results in 62% lower energy consumption and electricity bills – with estimated savings of nearly PLN 3.3 million over 5 years.*
Lower CO₂ emissions – energy savings translate into significant CO₂ reductions – the facility can save up to 291 tons of CO₂ annually (-62%), making a substantial contribution to environmental protection.
Lower modernization costs – the lighting system is designed to be scalable and ready for future upgrades. This flexibility allows the lighting to be adapted to changing operational and technological needs, extending its usability and reducing costs associated with potential infrastructure changes.
Lighting personalization – the office lighting allows individual control of its intensity, which is especially important for workplace comfort. Employees can adjust the lighting to their own preferences, positively impacting productivity and well-being.
VLC Technology (Visible Light Communication)
The innovative VLC indoor navigation system – based on communication through visible light – is one of the most technologically advanced solutions in the facility and fits into the Industry 4.0 concept. Each light fixture is equipped with a unique code that can be read by cameras in mobile devices, enabling precise indoor location tracking.
Benefits:
Operational efficiency – precise navigation allows for better management of order picking processes, improving warehouse efficiency.
Reduced need for additional navigation systems – the VLC system replaces traditional radio antennas, simplifying future infrastructure.
NatureConnect and biophilic lighting
In offices and shared spaces, the NatureConnect solution was implemented, based on biophilic design principles. NatureConnect effectively mimics daylight and automatically adjusts its intensity to the natural daily rhythm, supporting better health and well-being for office users.
Benefits:
Improved health and well-being – replicating natural daylight indoors supports a healthy circadian rhythm, resulting in better mood and employee performance.
Increased productivity – dynamic lighting changes support better concentration.
3D-printed fixtures / Circular lighting
3D-printed lighting fixtures were also used at Panattoni Park Piła. This technology consumes four times less energy during production than traditional die-casting. The fixtures are made from recycled materials (at least 55% recycled content), significantly reducing their embedded carbon footprint, cutting waste, and positively impacting the environment. It aligns with the principles of the circular economy and the EU taxonomy.
Benefits:
3D printing technology reduces the number of components, simplifying recycling and end-of-life disassembly.
3D printing enables on-demand production of fixtures, eliminating the need for storage and reducing production waste.
Lower CO₂ emissions in materials and transport (savings of up to 76% in material supply and production, and up to 28% in transport) compared to traditional LED fixtures (thanks to circular design and over 20% weight reduction compared to standard fixtures).
Investing in modern lighting technologies brings tangible benefits in terms of energy savings, improved operational efficiency, and environmental protection.
The facility in Piła also uses other eco-friendly solutions – such as photovoltaic panels – and will be certified under the BREEAM system at the Excellent level.
*Assumptions used to calculate savings:
