In Poland, as well as elsewhere in the world, Covid-19 and the related subsequent lockdowns resulted in a mass transfer of consumers to the Internet, as a result of which the development of e-commerce not so much accelerated as exploded. The need for companies to change the distribution channel translated into a gigantic demand for warehouse space. That was also the case with InPost, which in 2020 alone increased the volume of parcels by 115 percent to 310 million, and developed the Paczkomaty® network by 47 percent (up to 12,254 machines) in 2020 and by 50 percent in 2021. As an experienced partner in projects for the e-commerce sector, which is ready for challenges, Panattoni played a very important role in the rapid development of the company.

Seizing the potential of accelerated changes toward the digital economy

Inpost has rented approximately 350,500 sq m from Panattoni (until the end of 2021), of which nearly 100,000 sq m in 11 locations in 2021 alone. InPost hubs carried out by Panattoni are built on the ”Big Five” markets – in Wrocław, Łódź and Poznań, but also in Radzymin, which also serves the northern part of the Warsaw Agglomeration, Kalisz, Siedlce, Szczecin, Rzeszów, and Wałbrzych.

Thus, the developer responded to the market trend and its demand – courier companies investing in an increasing number of regional distribution centers, also in smaller centers, which improves the efficiency of deliveries both in terms of costs and parcel delivery time. Thanks to Panattoni's projects within and on the outskirts of smaller centers with a population ranging from 70,000 to 100,000, the end customer receives faster service almost all over Poland.

Panattoni also supplied the space for the production of Paczkomaty® InPost and expanded the company's research and development center. The Paczkomaty® factory was built as part of City Logistics Kraków Airport, occupying a total of 7,230 sq m. Thanks to that investment, InPost increased the efficiency of production processes while ensuring a convenient location for the workforce, which allowed to an increase in employment. In addition to the production of Paczkomaty® (including the electrical installation of modules with touch screens), a research and development center with two laboratories and a showroom was expanded at City Logistics Kraków Airport. Development works and tests of new solutions are carried out there.

For years, Panattoni has been observing the trend of the increasing share of e-commerce in trade, thanks to which it has specialized in providing dedicated online sales spaces, both in the "big box" formats, multi-tenant parks, last-mile parks, as well as BTS facilities.
