Panattoni, leader of the industrial real estate market in Europe, and Leroy Merlin, the French multinational specialized in DIY, construction, decoration and gardening with operations in 13 countries, announced today the signing of an agreement for the development and rental of a turnkey building of 27,200 square meters, within a total area of 44,100 m2, in the industrial complex of Torija, Guadalajara near Madrid.
Leroy Merlin has entrusted Panattoni with the development of a tailor-made Class A building, with all the standards and state-of-the-art services required to expand its logistics facilities located in the same area, specifically its B2C references in stock, as well as its cross-docking circuit. This optimization of its logistics circuits is integrated as part of its Lean & Green Plan, to achieve a 20% reduction in the emissions of its supply chain over the next 5 years.
The new building is scheduled to be operational by the second half of 2021 and will have the BREEAM "Very Good" sustainable construction certificate. With a free height of 11 meters, for storage in up to six heights, it will also have both 40 loading docks and a functional design to streamline its entire operation. It will also be located just 30 minutes by car from Madrid, right next to the A2 freeway (Madrid - Barcelona) in the province of Guadalajara, providing excellent connections to the Spanish freeway network.
As a result of this agreement, Gustavo Cardozo, Panattoni's General Manager for Spain and Portugal, has underlined how "we are proud to have such a renowned multinational company as Leroy Merlin as our tenant in Panattoni Madrid East. We are sure that our tailor-made building, together with its key location in the Corredor del Henares, will give the best performance to all the logistics operations of the French multinational, leader in the sale of construction and DIY materials in Spain".
For his part, Juan Sevillano, Director of Development at Leroy Merlin," has said that "we continue to be committed to sustainable facilities that have a positive impact on our environment. At the same time, we are working to continue optimizing our supply chain, in order to be more sustainable and to be able to give the best service to our clients".
