Jungheinrich's manufacturing hall in Panattoni Park Chomutov North has achieved BREEAM New Construction environmental certification at the Excellent level. In the Czech Republic, it has already reached 1,000,000 sqm of built space that has received this strict international sustainability certification. In total, Panattoni has 38 certified buildings in its domestic portfolio, of which 5 projects have achieved the highest level of certification at the Outstanding level.
The Jungheinrich plant in Panattoni Park Chomutov North is one of the most modern in the world for handling equipment. Environmental aspect is evident at every step. The project has superior insulation, external blinds and a heat pump that saves on energy costs. Sustainability is also confirmed by the use of rainwater for flushing in the industrial zone. The entire Panattoni Park Chomutov North project stands out for its extensive investment in supporting biodiversity around the industrial zone. 443 trees and almost 14 000 shrubs were planted. The area will remain unfenced, naturally following the revitalisation of the adjacent riparian vegetation. Ponds have been excavated in suitable locations to increase local species diversity. Additional measures also include meadow vegetation or bird boxes for various species of birds and bats.
Including the certification of the Jungheinrich building, Panattoni has already built over one million square metres of industrial infrastructure in its portfolio in the Czech market that meets strict environmental criteria. Panattoni's position as the Czech market leader is underlined by the fact that it has built 38 of the 123 domestic commercial and industrial projects that have received BREEAM New Construction certification.
“At the end of 2020, we announced the crossing of the 500,000 square meter mark of certified buildings. The fact that we have doubled this number in just 3 more years fills me with great joy. Interest in buildings built with sustainability in mind is growing and client requirements are becoming more ambitious, which makes us happy. Thus, we succeed in helping to meet the ESG visions and goals not only of our company, but especially of our clients. In addition to environmental considerations, we also pride ourselves on good relationships with the communities and local governments where we operate,” says Pavel Sovička, Managing Director of Panattoni for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The highest level Outstanding according to BREEAM New Construction certification has already been awarded to 5 buildings in the zones Panattoni Park Cheb South, Panattoni Park Stříbro, Panattoni Park Kojetín and Panattoni Park Pilsen West II. AUTODOC's hall in Panattoni Park Cheb South even recently received a record score of 94.2 percent under BREEAM 2016 New Construction, making the project the most sustainable industrial building in the world.
Panattoni creates industrial infrastructure on a large and very often strategic scale. At the same time, it clearly leads the ranking of construction with measured environmental impact according to BREEAM New Construction certification. Minimising the CO2 footprint and making the building as energy efficient as possible are significant in all buildings in the Panattoni portfolio. The developer is also a leader in sustainable development throughout Europe, although it entered the European market in 2005 as one of the last companies in this field. All new projects are targeting the highest levels of BREEAM New Construction certification at Outstanding or Excellent.
