"Perseverance, no concessions and the need to fight for everything through hard work are all attributes that David has possessed throughout his racing career. I think these qualities are also characteristic of our company. Moreover, we are also connected by our beginnings, as David's first participation in the famous Dakar took place 15 years ago, just as Panattoni started to operate on the Czech market," says Pavel Sovička, Panattoni's General Manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
"After last year's 13th place, which was really unlucky for me, I believe in the best! I hope that I will reach and cross the finish line and enjoy the podium. I believe in a good finish and I would like to fight for a place among the TOP 5 of my category. I also hope that this time everything will go without any accident, injury or fatal crash. I am grateful that Panattoni, which has become the general partner of my team, will help me to achieve my goal," adds David Pabiška, motorcycle racer and owner of the SP Moto Bohemia Racing Team.
The Liberec native started his motorcycle career at the age of 14 and since 1996 has been collecting numerous trophies and awards in the Czech Republic and abroad. He participated in the International Motorcycle Six Days, the European Rally Championship and became the International Czech Republic Endurance Champion. He shone the brightest in 2003 with a second place in the European Rally Baja Championship in Germany. The turning point in his career was in 2007, when he took part for the first time in one of the most famous races, the Dakar Rally, where he finished in a great 8th place among the newcomers in the Malle Moto category (42nd place overall). He subsequently took part in the prestigious race in the next twelve editions. His most successful starts include the 2014 edition, in which he finished 18th and 5th in the amateur class. He also achieved success in the 2012 edition, in which as a navigator he took an excellent 12th place in the truck category.
David Pabiska is characterized by firm discipline, hard training and fair play. In 2000, he received the FAIR PLAY UNESCO World Award for saving a life. In 2022, he linked his name and experience with the American Harley-Davidson brand. He became the brand ambassador on a Pan America machine in the Adventure Touring category. In addition to racing, David Pabiska also gives lectures, talks and private coaching.
The Dakar Rally starts on the last day of 2022, with the final stage taking place on 15 January 2023. Over the course of 14 days, the competitors will have to cover nearly 8,549 km in the challenging conditions of Saudi Arabia, which will test their stamina and driving skills. David Pabiska himself has left nothing to chance and has undergone tough preparation.
"I believe I have prepared myself. I start every day with an Orbitrek workout, then I add the gym and strength training. There is also motorcycle training and I finish the day by sleeping in a hypoxic tent. This simulates the realistic conditions that prevail when sleeping at an altitude of almost 3,000 metres above sea level and allows me to acclimatise and increase my strength and endurance capabilities, so that in addition to all the physical and mental stress that the Dakar brings with it, I don't have to struggle with the specific climatic conditions and their impact on the body," says David Pabiška.
The Dakar Rally is the first event in the World Championship series, which includes a total of five major rally races. Taking part in all rounds of the World Championship will be one of David Pabiška's main goals for the upcoming season. The Czech Republic championship will be among the next races planned.
