KION has opened its third building at Panattoni Park Stříbro: the complex of smart factories is one of the largest worldwide

KION Group has opened its third building at Panattoni Park Stříbro. The complex of smart factories built by the industrial zone developer Panattoni is becoming one of the largest centres for handling technology and automation worldwide. With an area of 25,000 sqm, the new factory will be operated by KION subsidiary Dematic. It will be used for the manufacture of conveyor belts, pouch sorting systems, and storage and retrieval equipment – known as Multishuttle systems – that ensure the smooth flow of goods in warehouses and distribution centers.  

“We were starting to run out of production capacity due to the high increase in orders and gradual production increase, so we were forced to expand our storage areas with 3 external warehouses. The new factory will allow us to move under one roof, which will significantly simplify our internal logistics processes,” said Jiří Čmolík, Director of the Dematic plant, a subsidiary of KION Group.

“When KION entered Panattoni Park Stříbro five years ago, it announced in advance that if it was successful in the area, it would build another building, and if it was very successful, it would build a total of three buildings. I’m very pleased that it finally chose the maximum expansion, because it means maximum satisfaction. Secondly, I would like to emphasize that KION’s story testifies to the gradual transformation of Czech industry to the level of 4.0. All factories are fully digitized and their operations are paperless,” says Pavel Sovička, Managing Director of Panattoni for Czech republic and Slovakia.

KION Group put its first building at Panattoni Park Stříbro into operation at the beginning of 2016. Within his personal visit, the then Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka described the plant for the production of forklifts as a textbook example of successful investment. The new building aspires to a high rating within the BREEAM environmental certification according to the latest standards.

Dematic is focusing its expertise on innovative, industry-specific warehouse logistics solutions, such as automated storage and retrieval systems, automated guided vehicle systems, Multishuttle systems and, increasingly, robotics.
