The industrial zone builder Panattoni Europe has taken first prize in the category of Logistics Real Estate Innovation at the prestigious LOG-IN Forum at the Czech National Bank Congress Centre in Prague. The DHL distribution centre, which will serve the American cosmetics manufacturer Estée Lauder Companies, caught the jury’s attention especially because of its smart technologies and innovative solutions for sustainable development. The building at Panattoni Cheb Park was certified under BREEAM 2016 with the highest ever rating in the Czech Republic.
“This project is very important to us because it symbolizes the merging of two visions. As part of its ambitious GoGreen programme Deutsche Post DHL wants to reduce CO2 emissions to zero by 2050 and in recent years our company has received BREEAM sustainability certification as the standard for all new buildings in the Czech Republic. I am very glad that we are building sustainable properties and appreciate the award very much because it confirms that we are going in the same direction as our clients,” said Pavel Sovička, Managing Director of Panattoni Europe for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The LOG-IN Forum is the only logistics event in the Czech Republic that is fully focused on case studies, innovation, the most efficient solutions and new logistics projects. The aim is to inform and inspire logistics professionals to take advantage of the latest knowledge in their practice while providing them with the opportunity to establish new business contacts.
During the construction of the DHL distribution centre for Estée Lauder Companies in Cheb, the developer recycled 99.74% of the waste. The energy performance of the hall is 76% lower than in conventional industrial properties. The interiors are lit by LED lights with motion sensors. In addition, in the project Panattoni Europe has significantly supported low-emission transport – it has built a bicycle shelter, has reserved some of the parking spaces for car sharing and has helped to improve the industrial zone’s connection to the public transport and the new bus stop.
The industrial zone builder Panattoni Europe, as the leader on the Czech market, has embarked on a courageous ecological concept that consists, on the one hand, of revitalizing brownfields and, on the other hand, minimizing the impact of the construction and operation of halls on the environment. Thanks to this approach, it is able to fulfil the strictest requirements for sustainable development.
