Uponor takes over energy-efficient logistics facility from Panattoni Europe

Official commissioning ceremony with Parliamentary State Secretary Dorothee Bär. New logistics centre ensures improved energy balance.

Panattoni Europe, the developer and investor of industrial properties, handed over a newly developed logistics facility in the Franconian Haßfurt to Uponor, in the presence of Dorothee Bär, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Jyri Luomakoski, Uponor's CEO, and Heiko Folgmann, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing Building Solutions Europe and Managing Director at Uponor Germany, accepted the symbolic key to launch the 16,800 square metres of logistics space into operation.

Uponor, a leading global provider of heating / cooling solutions and drinking water installations, will now use the new logistics centre to deliver its products to Central and Eastern European markets from the new location. Construction began last October and as part of the process the latest technology from Uponor was put in place. The facility's heating and cooling systems feature four cascade Ochsner air / water heat pumps which meet the highest energy standards. "Uponor's cutting-edge systems are expected to produce annual savings of around EUR 60,000 in energy and operating costs", said Fred Markus Bean, Panattoni Europe's Managing Partner. Apart from energy savings, Uponor systems also allow for reduced CO2 emissions. Heiko Folgmann adds: "The location of the new logistics centre will help us save around 1.2 million kilometres in transportation routes and in this way reduce CO2 emissions by 950 tons per year."

Panattoni Europe has invested well over ten million euro in the Haßfurt project. "This investment showcases our ability to provide perfect solutions for our customers away from the conventional logistics-intensive locations", says Bohne and continues: "customised design which is at the same time suitable for third-party use, excellent sustainable quality in the structural execution and perfect timing are our trump cards in this project."
