Panattoni Europe has started the construction for the BSH project – 79,000 sqm to be delivered in Łódź

Panattoni Europe, industrial space market leader, symbolically commenced the construction of a large-scale logistics centre for BSH Sprzęt Gospodarstwa Domowego. The BTS (built-to-suit) facility with 79,000 sqm and its own railway siding will be delivered in Łódź. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 30 May, and construction works are scheduled for completion in spring 2018.

Panattoni Europe symbolically commenced the construction of a large-scale logistics centre for BSH Sprzęt Gospodarstwa Domowego Sp. z o.o. in Łódź. To inaugurate the investment, the first sod was turned in the groundbreaking ceremony on 30 May. The event was attended by the representatives of both companies, as well as local authorities: Hanna Zdanowska – Mayor of Łódź and Ewa Florczyk – Director of the Entrepreneurship Department, Marshal Office of Łódzkie Region. The facility is planned for completion and commissioning in the spring of 2018.

The large-scale BTS (built-to-suit) facility is set to total 79,000 sqm, which will be divided into the warehousing section of 77,000 sqm and the office section which will take up 1,700 sqm. The investment will feature its own railway siding which will make it possible to rail freight the majority of production earmarked for exports. The railway station comprising a platform running the entire length of the facility (590 m) will be put inside the building. Moreover, the building will feature a special ramp system, LED lighting, as well as additional skylights and facade windows, to maximise access to natural light.

In Poland, BSH offers home appliances under such brands as Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau and Zelmer. The company has four factories in Poland – three in Łódź, making washing machines, dishwashers and clothes dryers, and one in Rogoźnica near Rzeszów, where small home appliances are made under the Zelmer brand. Two factories, which will make built-in ovens and fridges, are currently under development in Wrocław. The new logistics centre will be used by the company to handle exports of all the products made in BSH factories in Poland, and also for the purposes of domestic distribution. The facility will also process the supplies of components for production to be used in BSH factories in Poland and abroad.

Łódź is a very significant landmark on BSH’s global map, as evidenced by the number of investments carried out here. As long as 23 years ago, BSH recognised the strengths of the city and its central location and decided to build its first factory in Łódź – making washing machines. In subsequent years, we created two more manufacturing plants and seven shared services centres. The city of Łódź is an important partner of ours and we intend to keep developing our operations here - says Konrad Pokutycki, President of the Board of BSH Sprzęt Gospodarstwa Domowego.

The new investment will become part of BSH BTS, located at ul. Jędrzejowska. The facility will stand right next to the A1 – the only Polish motorway running north-south. It will be just 30 km away from the Łódź Północ junction, where the A1 and A2 motorways intersect. The perfect location in Central Poland with access to the intersection of the European east-west and north-south routes, as well as within administrative city limits, will facilitate BSH’s domestic and international logistics, as well as making it fast and easy for employees to get to work.
