Panattoni Europe celebrates the topping-out ceremony for the new Bergfreunde.de logistics centre

The construction work for the new logistics centre for the online specialist retailer Bergfreunde is progressing rapidly. Four months after the start of construction, Panattoni Europe is today celebrating the topping-out ceremony for the new facility together with Bergfreunde, the building contractor Goldbeck and the mayor of the town of Rottenburg, Stephan Neher. On a site of approx. 24,000 sqm in the industrial estate Ergenzingen near Rottenburg the logistics real estate developer is implementing a 13,000 sqm logistics complex consisting of 10,200 sqm of warehousing, 1,500 sqm of office and 1,000 sqm of mezzanine space. Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of this year. The project was brokered by Realogis.

The online retailer Bergfreunde, a specialist company for climbing, mountaineering and outdoor sports equipment, offers a range of more than 120,000 articles from over 510 mountain sports brands. With the new logistics centre in Ergenzingen, the company aims to ensure and extend its level of service and make full use of the potential for future growth. Panattoni Europe knows all about the requirements of an e-commerce company. “The facility is designed to provide maximum flexibility in the operation of Bergfreunde’s online mail-order business, thus allowing for any modifications in logistical processes. In addition, the space capacity in this location offers the possibility of mirroring the building. In this way, Bergfreunde is already equipped for further growth in the future,” Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, explains at the topping-out ceremony.

The industrial estate in the south of Stuttgart is located close to the A81 motorway. It is already an important logistics location with a DHL hub in the vicinity. “The logistics facility itself and its location completely fulfil all our expectations. This combination marks a significant milestone for our strategic orientation and paves the way for further expansion,” Ronny Höhn, Managing Director of Bergfreunde, explains. The company will employ about 100 people in the new logistics complex in Ergenzingen. The mayor of Rottenburg, Stephan Neher, reports, “The speed with which the construction of this new complex is progressing is amazing. The decision to settle this facility here is of great importance for the Rottenburg region. It underlines the attractiveness of the location for logistics companies as well as creating and securing jobs.”
