Panattoni Park Twente ceremonially inaugurated by Mayor Arjen Gerritsen of the city of Almelo, East Netherlands
Almelo, 8th June - The construction of Panattoni Park Twente is progressing smoothly, and was celebrated with a ceremonial inauguration by Mayor A.J. Gerritsen last Thursday. The state-of-the-art 55,000 m2 distribution centre is located at the XL Businesspark Twente in Almelo, East Netherlands. With excellent road, water, rail and air connections, the XL Businesspark is fully equipped for transportation in and out of Europe. The business park - with its modern facilities - has proven to be a new logistics hotspot in the Netherlands - attracting major (inter)national tenants including Timberland, VTech and Cannondale. Panattoni Park Twente - sustainable and built according to the BREEAM Excellent standard - is gas-free, and the entire roof surface will be fitted with solar panels. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.

Representatives from the project-and construction team, potential tenants and local stakeholders gathered at the XL Businesspark to celebrate this milestone. A special highlight of the event was the presence of Mayor Arjen Gerritsen of the city of Almelo for the ceremonial inauguration of Panattoni Park Twente. Not only marking the physical progress of the project, but also the collaboration between and determination of all those involved in the development of this new, future-proof distribution centre.
Mayor Arjen Gerritsen is happy with Panattoni's choice of the XL Business Park: ‘It confirms the appeal of the business climate as well as the growing economy in Twente.’

Future-proof logistics hotspot
Panattoni Park Twente will comprise an area of 55,000 m2, 48 loading docks and nearly 400 parking spaces. Additionally, the warehouse can be divided into four individual units with their own offices if so required.
Due to its strategic position, the distribution centre offers an ideal location for international companies in the manufacturing industry, logistics, transport and distribution sectors. This logistics hotspot also has a public loading-and unloading dock at the Twentekanaal and its own terminal with a direct water connection to the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam: the Combi Terminal Twente (CTT). This makes Panattoni Park Twente highly suitable for companies that use container transport by water for their supply chain. Furthermore, the location offers excellent rail connections to Germany, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe.
Panattoni Park Twente is built according to the BREEAM Excellent standard. For example, the roof surface will be fitted with solar panels to support the energy supply of future tenants and also the electricity grid.
Panattoni Park Twente is designed by Mies Architectuur and constructed by contractor Willy Naessens.
Jeroen de Bonth, Managing Director of Willy Naessens: ‘We are proud to be a partner in the realisation of Panattoni Park Twente. Sustainable construction is a requirement, not just an extra. That is what we stand for, and also the focus of this project.’

Knowledge exchange and innovation
