The new distribution center for JD Sports fits well with the high-quality logistics cluster in Heerlen and Parkstad. The new jobs offer prospects to job seekers from the region."
Jeroen Gerritsen, Managing Director Panattoni Netherlands: "This former industrial site in Heerlen has been remediated and the old factory has made way for a sustainable distribution center for GXO and JD Sports. The usable material from the demolition, such as the concrete and bricks, we have we processed on site and reused in the new building. For the well-being of the employees the design takes into account optimal lighting and fresh air supply. Naturally, the distribution center is gasless, and through a partnership with Sunrock, the huge roof is transformed into a solar power plant that will provide not only the building but also 2,000 households with renewable electricity."
The building totals some 70,000m2 and includes over 60,000m2 of warehouse, 6,500m2 of mezzanine and over 1,600m2 of office space.
