The project will be Panattoni's largest one in the Iberian Peninsula to date.
The new platform will include two turnkey buildings and will be the hub for all the logistics company's operations in the Murcia region and the East of Spain
Panattoni, Europe's leading logistics-industrial real estate developer, together with Alfil Logistics, Multimodal Integral Logistics Operator, announced today the signing of a contract for the development of a new turnkey project in Alcantarilla, Murcia. The project will have two tailor-made warehouses of 20,500 sqm and 22,500 sqm respectively, and an additional office area of 1,800 sqm. It will therefore have a gross leasable area of 45,000 sqm, within a total plot of 75,000 sqm. The delivery dates for both buildings in this two-phase development are mid and late 2022, respectively, with earthworks having already begun.
Alfil Logistics will use this new logistics platform to centralize and consolidate all its logistics operations in the Murcia region and provide the Estrella de Levante brewery, a subsidiary of the DAMM Group, with logistics services. The project will be developed in the San Andrés de Alcantarilla business park, a key area in the region as it is located just 7 km from Murcia city and next to the A-7 and E-15 highways, two of the main road networks in the area, providing direct access to the Mediterranean Corridor and thus speeding up distribution to the east of Spain.
The project will be to date the largest park developed by Panattoni in Spain. The company has by now secured the launch of more than 300,000 square meters of leasable area of logistics warehouses in 8 regions since it opened office in Spain in March 2020, and has completed and delivered more than 50,000 sqm of logistics warehouses so far.
The logistics park will have the highest standards of quality, safety and service for the optimal development of the activity of Alfil Logistics, with a total of 42 docks and large parking areas for vehicle operations, as well as the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, thanks to the combination of LED lighting, electric chargers, photovoltaic power supply and intelligent management through its Building Management System (BMS). These features are recognized by the BREEAM 'Very Good' certification awarded to the building.
"We are pleased to announce this new project which is a milestone for Panattoni in Spain. It will be our largest development in the Iberian market to date and adds a new key region in the sector to the company's expansion," said Gustavo Cardozo, Panattoni's General Manager for Spain and Portugal, who added that "this project in the San Andrés de Alcantarilla business park in Murcia means strengthening ties with a prestigious logistics operator like Alfil Logistics, in a strategic location for the distribution of products in Murcia and the East of Spain”.
