- Panattoni develops distribution centre for Amazon at Jade Weser Park
- Celebration on 30/09/2020 after successful construction progress
- Completion of the new distribution centre is scheduled for Spring 2021
On 30 September 2020, Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, celebrated the topping out ceremony in Schortens together with Amazon. Panattoni is developing a distribution center for Amazon Logistics, Amazon’s package delivery service, at Jade Weser Park.
The project developer is implementing about 6,895 sqm of logistics and 1,422 sqm of office and communal areas in the inter-municipal industrial and office park, which is in the immediate vicinity of Jade Weser Port. The lot comprises about 63,786 sqm. The new distribution centre, which Amazon will use to handle its last-mile logistics in the B2C segment, features excellent connection to the A 29 and A 31 federal motorways.
In the distribution centre, Panattoni implements an innovative building concept that combines elements of a classic distribution centre with a cross-dock concept. This enables drivers to load goods at the side of the distribution centre under special awnings. The Schortens location is also already well equipped for sustainable transport because it installed e-charging stations for a fleet of electric delivery vehicles.
“We are particularly happy about the rapid construction progress of the Jade Weser Park project. In view of restrictions due to the Corona pandemic and a challenging last half year, we were able to celebrate an important success with the joint topping out ceremony,” said Fred-Markus Bohne, managing partner at Panattoni. “This also confirms the trust that our customer and partner Amazon has repeatedly placed in our abilities and in our experience.”
“We are very happy to open a distribution centre at Jade Weser Park, which features more than 20 years of logistical skills, technological progress and investment in transport infrastructure. It lets Amazon offer customers faster and more flexible delivery options,” commented Robert Viegers, director of Amazon Logistics in Germany.
Currently, Panattoni is developing the fifth project for Amazon in Germany at the Schortens location. Already in 2017, the online retailer moved into a property developed without pre-letting in Düsseldorf; in the summer of 2020, Panattoni turned over two more distribution centres in Kaltenkirchen and Knüllwald near Kassel. The distribution centre in Magdeburg was also successfully turned over to Amazon recently.
Completion of the property at Jade Weser Park is scheduled for spring 2021.
