Panattoni develops new headquarters for Biofarma in Ringsted, Denmark
New build-to-own facility will support Biofarma’s continued growth within specialised healthcare logistics across the Nordic region.
Ringsted, Denmark — Panattoni Denmark is developing a new build-to-own headquarters and pharma logistics facility for Biofarma Logistik A/S in Ringsted, Central Zealand. The project represents a significant investment in Biofarma’s future operations and will provide the company with a modern, purpose-built platform for its specialised healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics activities across the Nordic region.
The new facility will become Biofarma’s future Danish headquarters and logistics hub. Approximately 60 employees are expected to relocate from the company’s existing headquarters and warehouse in Glostrup to the new site in Ringsted. The development will comprise approximately +10,000 sqm in one building on a 2.08-hectare greenfield site. The facility has been designed specifically for the operational requirements of a specialised pharma logistics company and will include temperature-controlled warehouse areas, cold storage, a dedicated area for hazardous goods storage, an 11-metre stacking height, 10 loading ramps, one ground-level gateway and 60 car parking spaces.
Biofarma is a Danish logistics company with more than 60 years of experience specialized in pharma logistics, supply-chain and transport solutions for healthcare and pharmaceutical companies in the Nordic region. The company provides dedicated healthcare logistics solutions for Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, with a strong focus on quality, reliability and patient safety.
Søren Theil - CEO, Biofarma Logistik A/S, comments: "For Biofarma, this project is an important investment in the future of our company. Our customers operate in a highly regulated and quality-driven sector, and the new facility in Ringsted will give us the right framework to continue developing our services, strengthening our operations and supporting healthcare and pharmaceutical companies across the Nordic region. The move to Ringsted gives us a modern, purpose-built platform that matches both our current requirements and our long-term ambitions. The facility has been designed around the needs of specialised healthcare logistics, with temperature-controlled areas, cold storage and efficient goods handling as central elements. This will allow us to continue delivering the high level of quality and reliability that our customers expect from Biofarma."
Jacob Widahl, Managing Director at Panattoni Denmark, comments: "We are very pleased to be developing Biofarma’s new headquarters and pharma logistics facility in Ringsted. This is a highly specialised project for a company with deep roots in the Danish pharmaceutical and healthcare logistics sector. The facility has been designed around Biofarma’s operational needs and will support the company’s continued growth across the Nordic market."
The project further strengthens Ringsted’s position as one of Zealand’s most attractive locations for logistics, light industrial and owner-occupier developments. The site offers excellent access to the E20 motorway, one of Denmark’s key transport corridors, connecting the area to Greater Copenhagen, the rest of Denmark, Sweden and the wider Nordic region. The location also benefits from strong regional infrastructure. More than two million people can be reached within one hour’s drive from the site, while key logistics destinations such as Køge, Roskilde Airport, Copenhagen, Kalundborg and Malmö are all within easy reach. Ringsted has also been highlighted by municipalities and businesses as an attractive location for future combined transport infrastructure, including a potential international multimodal terminal.
Søren Theil - CEO, Biofarma Logistik A/S, adds: "Ringsted is a strong location for Biofarma’s future operations. The accessibility, infrastructure and proximity to key transport routes make it well suited for our logistics activities, while also providing a modern workplace for our employees. We look forward to becoming part of the business community in Ringsted. This is an important step for Biofarma. We are building on more than 60 years of experience in healthcare logistics, while creating a new base that will support our continued development as a reliable, long-term partner for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in the Nordic region."
The project is targeting BREEAM Excellent certification, underlining Panattoni’s focus on sustainable and energy-efficient industrial development. The ambition is to create a future-proof facility that combines operational efficiency, high technical standards and strong sustainability credentials.
HPH Totalbyg A/S has been selected as general contractor for the project. Panattoni already works with HPH Totalbyg on the neighbouring Central Hub Ringsted development.
Farid Shirmohammadi, Technical Director at Panattoni Denmark, comments: "We are pleased to continue our cooperation with HPH Totalbyg, which has strong experience in delivering high-quality and technically complex industrial buildings. Their knowledge of the area and their work on the neighbouring project make them a strong partner for this development."
Søren Trærup, Senior Projectmanager hos HPH Totalbyg A/S, comments: "We are very pleased that Panattoni has once again chosen HPH Totalbyg for a project of this size and complexity. We see this as a great recognition of the efforts of our colleagues and of HPH as a company.
