The Panattoni 100 run for Castorama is done! 100,000 sqm in Stryków already operational
Panattoni Europe, market leader in industrial real estate in Europe, has completed the construction of a 100,000-square-metre distribution centre for Castorama Polska. The facility was delivered in Stryków, and its implementation was divided into two stages. The official handover of the centre took place on 1 June 2019, followed by a special run around the facility to celebrate project completion on 18 June.
A great space to satisfy great needs. Castorama Polska, part of Kingfisher plc., keeps growing year on year with steadily rising sales, operating profits and business reach. At present, the DIY and home improvement giant operates 78 stationary stores in Poland and more have been promised. At the same time, developing multichannel sales, it provides customers nationwide round-the-clock access to its online store. The impressive performance of Castorama Polska is also a result of operational efficiencies and development of the supply chain. One very important link in the chain has just been added with the completion by Panattoni Europe and Castorama Polska of a 100,000-square-metre logistics centre in Stryków. The 50,000 sqm delivered in November 2017 has been doubled by the developer. The facility for Castorama Polska is 98.5 per cent warehouse space and 1450 sqm office and staff space, which has been prepared for the anticipated headcount of 300 employees. The centre complies with all the environmental criteria and has been built in line with the principles of sustainable development, including e.g. LED lighting with a dynamic control system.
The 100,000 sqm run! The handover of the warehouse took place on 1 June and the occasion was celebrated in the healthiest way possible – with sports. On Tuesday, 18 June, the representatives of Panattoni Europe, Spedimex, JLL, XPO and Castorama set off at 11 a.m. and did three laps around the warehouse, completing a 5-kilometre run.
Panattoni Europe, Castorama Polska, Stryków – Logistics centre… and more. The newly completed 100,000-square-metre logistics centre in not the only joint project between Panattoni Europe and Castorama Polska in Stryków. In 2014, the developer delivered a BTS (build-to-suit) facility which, following extension, reached 50,000 sqm of space. The investment was tailored to the needs of effective management of diverse supply sources. Marek Dobrzycki, Managing Director at Panattoni Europe makes no secret of the company’s satisfaction to be working with such a strong customer – “The first facility we delivered in Stryków for Castorama Polska heralded future successful collaboration. It has brought us to this day and the recently completed logistics centre which will support our customer’s dynamic growth. We are happy to be a part of it.”
The strategic location of the centre facilitates efficient transport of products around the country and beyond. The distribution centre has been built in Stryków – one of the top locations on Poland’s warehousing map. The town is a real window on the world, as it is less than twenty kilometres from Poland’s logistics capital – Łódź, and neighbours on major transportation routes – the interchange of the A2 motorway (Stryków II) with road no 71 (Zgierz-Stryków) in the vicinity of the national route 14 (Warszawa-Łódź).
“The logistics centre in Stryków is an important element in the development of multichannel sales. Its location will enable us to cut costs and accelerate delivery times, which will have a positive impact on the prices in our stores and the shopping experience”, comments Wojciech Gondek, Supply Chain Director Castorama Polska.
A facility in good hands. As of December 2018, the logistics centre leased by Castorama Polska has been the property of TritaxBox plc. – a company investing in logistics real estate, which paid EUR 55 million for the facility. The acquisition of the building delivered by Panattoni Europe was the company’s eighth project in the Tritax Eurobox plc. portfolio. The company operates in continental Europe, where it acquires assets of key importance in supply chains, logistics and distribution, serving the best established logistics markets and major urban centres.
