Panattoni with three more BREEAM Very Good certificates
Panattoni, market leader in industrial real estate in Europe, earns three new BREEAM Very Good certificates. City Logistics Łódź I, Panattoni Park Opole and Panattoni Park Pruszków III successfully completed the multi-criteria environmental assessment process. In H1 2020 alone, Very Good certificates have been awarded to projects totalling 150,000 sqm.
Very Good for Panattoni. In line with the announcement of introducing BREEAM certification with a Very Good rating for all newly built Panattoni parks as of 2020, three new facilities have landed on the list of green buildings. They are City Logistics Łódź I (more than 30,000 sqm), Panattoni Park Opole (close to 29,000 sqm) and Panattoni Park Pruszków III (hall A with close to 31,000 sqm). These are not the first projects to be awarded BREEAM Very Good certification this year – the developer had previously announced the successful completion of the certification process for the Amazon facility (60,000 sqm) in Okmiany near Bolesławiec. As a result, in H1 2020 alone, Very Good certificates have been awarded to projects totalling 150,000 sqm.
The developer has for years been implementing environmentally friendly solutions in its projects, achieving the highest number of environmental certificates (BREEAM, LEED and DGNB) across the entire sector. The move up a level and multi-criteria assessment of facilities under the BREEAM scheme to obtain a Very Good rating is commented on by Robert Dobrzycki, CEO Panattoni: “Our sustainable development concept implemented as of this year under the Go Earthwise with Panattoni banner aims to create a new standard for warehousing in Europe, and to minimise the impact of investments on the natural environment”. He then goes on to say: “The role of an industry leader entails a certain commitment, whereby you get to serve as a benchmark for other entities active in the market. We have decided to accept this challenge and are doing our best to not only develop the industrial property sector, but also set the path for others to follow. Panattoni is already certifying more than others and leading the BREEAM ranking in Poland”.
Panattoni’s coherent strategy provides for more than the environmental certification of its facilities. According to Norbert Sumisławski, Head of Project Management at Panattoni: “We have also introduced a new façade standard with fully glazed office sections. The enhanced insulation of walls and roofs in our buildings helps reduce emissions of exhaust gases and carbon dioxide, and make up to 20 per cent energy savings in heating the facility”. He then adds: “we are currently implementing our proprietary landscaping concept, including buffer zones, leisure areas, through to wild flower meadows”.
In Poland alone, the portfolio of Panattoni facilities meeting sustainable development standards comprises 30 projects – 14 completed BREEAM certification obtaining a GOOD rating, 8 successfully qualified for a VERY GOOD rating, and two hold LEED GOLD and SILVER certification. In total, they account for 1.4 million sqm, and a further 1.75 million are in the pipeline. The sustainable development policy adopted by Panattoni applies throughout Europe. Just in the past year, the developer has obtained 18 BREEAM VERY GOOD certificates for its projects in the United Kingdom, and 5 in Czechia, including one successfully qualifying for the EXCELLENT rating. Europe-wide, Panattoni is planning to apply for certification of an additional 2.5 million square metres.
