Logistics Start-up Hive moves into Panattoni Park Berlin South
- New tenant wants to democratise E-commerce logistics
- Expansion to be advanced at the Rangsdorf location
- Handover scheduled for March 2021
Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, provides a start-up company with space for expansion at the Panattoni Park Berlin South. After GEFCO Deutschland GmbH, an international provider of worldwide logistics and transport solutions, became a tenant during the first phase of construction, another partial letting to Hive Logistics GmbH follows now.
Hive is a young, dynamically growing company that offers logistics services and warehouse software for online retailers. The start-up, which is headquartered in Berlin, was founded in 2020 and provides a high-performing logistics infrastructure to young founders of online shops in the rapidly expanding direct-to-consumer market (D2C), in particular. Hive notes that the D2C market will achieve sales of EUR 240 billion in Europe by 2025. In 2020, Hive gradually expanded its customer base and expects to double it during the next three months. The player handles all warehouse and logistics services for its customers.
The start-up will initially move into a total area of 7,372 m2, consisting of 6,544 m2 warehouse, 466 m2 office and 362 m2 mezzanine space, as well as car parking spaces.
At a lot size of 28 hectares, the Panattoni Park Berlin South is Panattoni’s largest speculative facility in Germany. The facility features excellent connections to the A10 Berlin orbital motorway, the B96 federal road and to other motorways that reach all parts of Germany.
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni said the following about the new tenant: “We are happy that we are able to provide Hive with the necessary space for further expansion on very short notice. We wish the young company that they continue to be well on their way and hope that the team will feel at home at Panattoni Park Berlin South.”
The space will be handed over to tenant Hive in March 2021. “At Panattoni Park Berlin South, we will set up a new fulfilment centre to expand our customer base and be able to take over logistics for even more online retailers,” Oskar Ziegler, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Hive Logistics GmbH, commented. “For our e-commerce logistics, there is a significant need for skilled labour. Thus, we are happy to create new jobs when we settle here.”
Robin Schukat and Ingo Schulze of Colliers International Deutschland GmbH acted in an advisory capacity as mediating brokers for the letting.
