Panattoni Europe has started the transformation of the former Škoda Ostrov premises into a new industrial zone

The dilapidated premises of the former trolleybus factory near Ostrov in the Karlovy Vary region are slowly turning into the new Panattoni Park Ostrov – North industrial zone. The industrial space developer Panattoni Europe has started preparatory work to rehabilitate and revitalize the area where it plans to build 120,000 sqm of lettable industrial area and to create up to 1,000 new jobs for the Karlovy Vary region and its surroundings.

“After the renowned trolleybus production was terminated, the Ostrov premises were falling into disrepair for 10 years before they were was sold in bankruptcy proceedings. Now it is a typical brownfield that sort of symbolizes the structural problems of the whole region. We want to turn it into a modern industrial complex for several tenants. Our vision of the new Ostrov premises builds on its rich engineering tradition, returning superb industry to the places where it was present for a long time. I firmly believe that we will also be able to return prosperity and attractiveness to the site. This is the only way to stop its depopulation,” says Pavel Sovička, Panattoni Europe’s Managing Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Panattoni Park Ostrov – North is situated at the exit of the 13/E442 road, which connects Karlovy Vary, Chomutov, Most and Teplice, providing a convenient connection to the D6 motorway and, especially, to the German motorway network. The site has an enormous potential to become an industrial base for the German automotive or e-commerce industry, while significantly contributing to the development of both the entire region and Ostrov, its second largest town.
